A “baby come back” bid did not end well for a Hwange man after he was dragged to court for indecent assault following his failure to contain rejection when he fondled his ex-girlfriend’s breasts to remind her of what they used to enjoy during happier days. Ashim Akido (20) from Empumalanga Township in Hwange learnt the hard way on how to deal with rejection when he appeared before provincial magistrate Mrs Portia Mhlanga-Moyo facing an indecent assault charge involving his Form Two ex- girlfriend.
He was slapped with a six-month jail term which was however, suspended on condition he performs 210 hours community service at Hwange magistrates’ court. Akido said the rejection had frustrated him such that he thought if he acted a “little nice” she would take him back.
“Your worship, after trying my level best to ask for her forgiveness which she still turned down I decided to be a little nice and I fondled her breasts to remind her of what we used to be like before we broke up,” said Akido throwing the gallery into laughter.
The court heard that on 23 March, Akido went to see his 15-year-old ex-girlfriend who was selling tomatoes at Matake Shopping Centre to plead for forgiveness so they could reconcile.
“Akido came to where the complainant was seated and started pleading with her to forgive him so that they could reconcile their love which had broken up but she refused,” prosecuted Miss Loveness Maseko.
This did not go down well with Akido who grabbed the complainant from the back and fondled her breasts without her consent. He only let her go when a fellow elderly vendor threatened to beat him up before fleeing from the scene. A report was made to police leading to his arrest.
