BONGANI Mlotshwa, the husband to politician Linda Masarira, was yesterday ordered to perform 350 hours of community service after beating her to a pulp last week.

Mlotshwa was confronted by Masarira after he was found in bed with her daughter.

He pleaded guilty to the offence before Epworth magistrate, Jesline Madaka, and was sentenced to 15 months imprisonment.

Five months were suspended on condition that he doesn’t commit a similar offence in the next five years, while 10 were suspended on condition that he performs unpaid work at Hatfield Police Station.

The State, represented by Vincent Chidembo, proved that Masarira (41) returned home just after midnight and discovered that Mlotshwa (28) wasn’t in their bedroom.

She searched for him and heard that he was in her daughter’s bedroom.

Mlotshwa and Masarira’s daughter sought to run away, but were caught at the door.

Masarira confronted Mlotshwa about what was happening and he responded by assaulting her.

She was hit three times with a fist on her eye.

Masarira sustained serious injuries.
