Company pledge to boost security in Ward 41

WARD 41 Harare West Councillor Kudzai Kadzombe says a company in her ward Black Oak has approached her with the intention of putting up security measures to curb the recent increase in crime in the area.

Cllr Kadzombe said their proposal includes installing solar street lights on existing TelOne poles and extending installation to council light poles pending council approval.

“Where there is no lighting infrastructure, the company will be installing new poles funded by resident crowdfunding, each street contributing for its own lights (100 percent solar),” she said.

Cllr Kadzombe said another local business has pledged to donate whistles to residents as part of a crime whistle programme.

“This system has worked well in other communities-a quick whistle alert can warn neighbours and work alongside our neighbourhood watch guards to deter intruders,” she said.
