‘Complete road tarring’

Government has been urged to complete the tarring of the long-stalled Gutu-Kurai Road which serves areas where arguably the highest population concentration in Gutu district is found.Tarring of the road was stopped 15 years ago and some of the road-making equipment lies abandoned along the road which links Gutu to areas such as Bikita and Buhera in Manicaland.

The road also links the populous Bhasera communal lands to major health centres such as Chimombe Rural Hospital and Mutero Clinic.
Newly-elected Gutu Central National Assembly member Cde Lovemore Matuke said Government is expected to finally show commitment to complete the project that has been on ice for the past 15 years.

“We are appealing to Government and the relevant parliamentary portfolio committee to spare a thought for Gutu-Kurai Road whose construction has been stopped for the past 15 years. We feel it is high time this project is completed,’’ he said.
