The conference, held from 6 to 10 December in the city, gave the revolutionary party a platform to review party and Government work in the past 11 months, and looking forward to next year, a year when elections will be held.
The conference rejuvenated the party, which is now geared to thrash opposition parties in elections next year.
The conference was also a resounding success as it gave the party a clear direction, national chairman Cde Simon Khaya Moyo said.
Cde Khaya Moyo said the conference, which was attended by thousands of delegates from the country’s 10 provinces, has proved Zanu-PF critics wrong as it has reinvigorated the party.
“It was indeed a very productive conference. The address by President Mugabe gave the party a clear direction of our destiny in line with the theme of the conference that said ‘Defend national sovereignty, consolidate indigenisation and economic empowerment’,” said Cde Khaya Moyo.
“This was a landmark and a far-reaching conference which opened a new chapter into the future of this great nation. Our critics have nothing to offer to the people save for relishing sell-outism. They will remain critics and they will not enter the kingdom.
“It was quite evident throughout the conference that Zanu-PF is the only party with clear policies and programmes that are people-centred. The participation by delegates at various committees and during the plenary sessions was very informed and most positive.”
Cde Khaya Moyo said the conference ended on a high note and commended President Mugabe for calling on the party to strategise for the next harmonised general election early next year.
He said he was convinced that the party would win a landslide victory against its opponents.
Cde Khaya Moyo also paid tribute to President Mugabe for donating 60 tonnes of seed maize to delegates and computers to Sobukhazi Secondary School.
He said the donation shows how the revolutionary leader was committed to improving education and food production in the country.
Zanu-PF is a revolutionary party that liberated the country from British colonial dictatorship and has the interests of Zimbabweans at heart. It has implemented a number of people-centred policies that have helped uplift the living standards and social status of the people. The programmes include land reform and redistribution, large investments in education and health and also the ongoing indigenisation and economic empowerment drive.
President Mugabe is the First Secretary and President of the party, thus is the head of the party’s four-member Presidium. Vice-Presidents and Second Secretaries Cde Joice Mujuru and John Nkomo, and Cde Khaya Moyo are also members of the Presidium. The secretary to the Presidium is the party’s Politburo Secretary for Administration, Cde Didymus Mutasa.
