In a remarkable display of talent and teamwork, Connect Kids Junior School from Damofalls has emerged as a dominant force in the Super League division of the Dzidzo Inhaka Schools Computer Science E-sports tournaments for the third term. Their exceptional achievements, including two trophies and two laptops, highlight their prowess in both the Infant and Junior categories.
The recent Super League competition showcased outstanding performances, resulting in 23 medals awarded across various categories. Coached by Nyasha Ranga, Connect Kids Junior excelled in the Super League Inter Pre-Schools division, securing 4 gold, 1 silver, and 1 bronze medal. Minnieland Pre-School followed closely with 2 gold medals. Other notable competitors included Arise and Shine Junior, earning 1 gold, 1 silver, and 1 bronze, and Mabel Crest School, which took home 1 gold and 1 bronze. Springdew Infant School and Adonani Pre-School each earned 1 silver medal, while Little Angels (Chiweshe) and Tsala Centre captured a medal apiece.
In the infant category, activities engaged young minds through a combination of fun and educational tasks. Highlights included a four-level puzzle that encouraged problem-solving, a Number Matching (1-10) activity to enhance basic math skills, and the construction of space rockets that sparked creativity.
The children also participated in drawing African huts, fostering artistic abilities and knowledge of national heritage. In MS Word sessions, they practiced typing skills and learned the alphabet, laying a solid foundation for early literacy development. These activities not only entertained but also equipped the children with essential skills in numeracy and literacy. In an interview, 11-year-old e-sports player Michael Joshua Chiridza from Connect Kids School, who won a gold medal in geography games, shared his excitement: “I felt ecstatic!”
“It was amazing to hold that gold medal and know that all my hard work paid off. I was proud to make my family and teachers happy too.” Michael expressed his future aspirations: “I want to become a lawyer and a computer gaming businessman. I love the idea of helping people with legal issues while also creating fun and exciting video games!”
“For the 2025 season, I expect to improve my skills even more and hopefully win again!”
“I practice every day with my siblings, Ethan, Pearl, and Khai. We make it fun by creating quizzes and challenging each other.”
“I am also studying geography topics more diligently to be fully prepared.”
In the Junior Schools division, the Connect Kids Junior team, coached by Nyasha Gwese, continued their stellar performance by winning 5 gold, 4 silver, and 1 bronze medal. Arise and Shine Junior followed closely, earning 2 gold, 2 silver, and 2 bronze medals, while Mabel Crest School secured 2 gold and 2 bronze.
