Conrad for Gauteng Rally

Rally Championship series when he takes part in the Toyota Dealer Gauteng Rally this weekend.
The Gauteng Rally, which starts this afternoon and ends tomorrow afternoon, is the fourth of the eight-round 2011 SARC in which Rautenbach is currently leading in the title chase with 69 points after the first three rounds of action.
And with five wins from six starts in two separate championships, the privateer Green Fuel Ford Fiesta team of Rautenbach and Frenchman Nicolas Klinger is aiming to keep their championship momentum on track as the season reaches its mid-point this weekend.
In the SARC, Rautenbach has an 18-point advantage after taking two wins and a third place so far.
And all eyes in this weekend’s two-day Gauteng Rally will once again be on Rautenbach as he guns for his third victory in four starts in this year’s SARC series.
Rautenbach is currently enjoying the form of his life which has seen him winning five of the six international events he has competed in at home and outside Zimbabwe since the beginning of the 2011 season in March.
Driving a Green Fuel ethanol-powered Ford Fiesta S2000, Rautenbach has so far this year emerged triumphant in the Toyota Zimbabwe Challenge Rally in Harare, the Total Tour Natal Rally, the HMC Hencom Autobody Rally (both in South Africa), and the Zambia International Rally in Lusaka.
He only failed to get a first podium place in the Sasol Rally in South Africa in April where he finished third.
The Toyota Zimbabwe Challenge Rally, the Sasol Rally and the Zambia International Rally were the opening three rounds of this year’s FIA African Rally Championship series in which Rautenbach is also representing Zimbabwe. The Sasol Rally was, in fact, the second round of both the SARC and ARC and although Rautenbach came third in that event, he was classified as first among the ARC-registered drivers.
And now, the most closely-fought South African Rally Championship in two decades will come to town in the Gauteng Province of South Africa this weekend with the Toyota Dealer Gauteng Rally around Bapsfontein.
The event should continue this year’s rallying tendency which has seen up to 10 crews fighting for overall victories.
Rautenbach and Klinger (Green Fuel Ford Fiesta S2000) currently lead the title chase with Johnny Gemmell/Drew Sturrock (Castrol Toyota Auris) and Hergen Fekken/Pierre Arries (BP Ultimate VW Polo) their closest challengers.
The event will consist of 14 special stages and an event-ending super special.
It will start from Carnival Toyota close to the Carnival City Casino complex this afternoon, with the finish at the RallyStar Motorsport Academy near Bapsfontein tomorrow.
