Zim juniors step up preps

tournament in Moshi, Tanzania, from June 21-15.
The tournament has attracted participants from Kenya, Rwanda, Burundi, Uganda, Sudan, Zanzibar, Zambia, Zimbabwe and the hosts.
It is a competition in which the Under-13 boys will battle it out in football while the Under-16 girls fight for honours in volleyball.
Both the volleyball and football teams are expected to be in camp next week.
It is the first time that Zimbabwe will be competing in volleyball at such an event.
Sport and Recreation Commission manager for Community Sports Programme, Martin Dururu, said the two teams should acquit themselves well.
“I am sure our teams will do very well given they went through a grueling qualification system.
“We are happy to take part although, we are unable to send the mixed sitting volleyball team because no competitions took place to determine winners.
“Hopefully, next year we will be in a position to do so,” said Dururu.
The Zimbabwe team will travel to Tanzania by road via Zambia on June 19 with 15 footballers and 10 volleyball players.
The East Africa Cup is an annual development sport event, which takes place in Moshi, Tanzania, during the last 10 days of June. Zimbabwe switched from taking part at the Norway Cup to Eastern Africa Cup.
“The participants will not only benefit from the games but they will also learn a lot from other participants’ culture as well as from networking
“A common factor for all the countries in an expanded Eastern Africa region is that future generations need to develop life skills needed to tackle the challenges existing in a constantly changing and developing context,” Dururu said.
