FOR the past four years, Hip-Hop female sensation Noluntu J has proven that consistency is a currency that pays, even in a genre long dominated by men.
The rapper has maintained her ground and grown her brand brick by brick, showing up on stages, in cyphers and on collaborations with an energy that refuses to dim.
She has graced almost every prominent local platform one can think of, from the Intwasa Arts Festival koBulawayo, Bulawayo Arts Festival, to Harare’s major showcases, including the Jacaranda Music Festival and the recent Shoko Festival.
Her smooth flow, sharp mic presence and heavy punchlines have become her signature, earning her respect as she confidently knocks down male rappers who often consider themselves the “main players” of the game.
For all her sweat and contribution to the culture over the years, Noluntu J has been recognised repeatedly by the Zim Hip-Hop Awards, having secured nominations for the past three years in a row.
This year, the recognition grows even bigger.
She has bagged three nominations at the upcoming awards ceremony set for December 12 at Zimbali Gardens in Greendale, Harare.
“It’s a great feeling to have been nominated for the Zim Hip-Hop Awards once more, as this recognition shows that there’s something good that I’m doing among my peers.
“I believe hard work is finally paying off as I’ve invested a lot in the game for the past years.
“I think performing on huge stages like the Jacaranda Music Festival, Afro-Tellers in South Africa and working with the British Council Zimbabwe has propelled me to get nominated at the Zim Hip-Hop Awards.
“I’m looking forward to a great night as I predict a win, if not two, at the awards ceremony,” said Noluntu J.
