PRESIDENT Mnangagwa deserves to remain in office until 2030 to realise his vision of transforming Zimbabwe into an upper-middle-income economy, Zanu PF Central Committee member, Cde Kudakwashe Tagwirei, has said.
Addressing hundreds of Zanu PF supporters, including provincial party officials at the party’s provincial inter-district conference at Mafuramhepo on the shores of Lake Mutirikwi on Sunday, Cde Tagwirei urged Zimbabweans to continue supporting President Mnangagwa’s leadership, which has led to significant projects and policies aimed at socio-economic growth.
He praised the President’s leadership, noting that his people-centric Government had initiated various farming schemes to enhance productivity for beneficiaries of the Land Reform Programme.
“There has been evident development and socio-economic transformation under President Mnangagwa’s leadership that the nation should allow him to continue leading the country up to 2030 as what was unanimously resolved by the ruling Zanu PF party that the President’s term be extended,” he said.
Cde Tagwirei said under President Mnangagwa, there have been major changes across all sectors of the economy, including infrastructure improvements such as roads.
He reported that foreign currency earnings have surged to over US$8 billion, up from less than US$2 billion before President Mnangagwa’s tenure.
Cde Tagwirei, who is Chairperson of the Land Tenure Technical Committee, announced initiatives aimed at helping beneficiaries of the Land Reform Programme generate wealth, including financial support for title deeds.
President Mnangagwa is expected to launch the model A1 starter pack programme in Masvingo early next year, benefiting an initial 1 000 farmers to help them raise funds for title deeds.
Additionally, there is a US$50 million agriculture support facility for A2 farmers.
Cde Tagwirei addressed misconceptions regarding the title deeds process, urging Zimbabweans to embrace the opportunity.
“This exercise seeks to create wealth for our people. We want to avoid spreading a culture of laziness and waiting for handouts; we want our people to work for themselves,” he stated.
He noted that over 360 000 Zimbabweans have been allocated land under the reform programme and emphasised the need for increased productivity. Cde Tagwirei encouraged farmers to get title deeds to secure bank loans, which will aid the nation’s quest to become an upper-middle-income economy by 2030.
He urged the province to leverage its agricultural potential, highlighting that Masvingo has numerous dams suitable for an ambitious irrigation development programme, boasting 54 percent of the country’s dammed water.
Turning to politics, Cde Tagwirei expressed gratitude to Zanu PF Masvingo Province for initially inviting him to serve in the party’s Central Committee before transferring to Harare Province.
Zanu PF Secretary for Security in the Politburo, Cde Lovemore Matuke, praised President Mnangagwa for rolling out projects that positively impact citizens’ lives. He affirmed Masvingo’s support for the resolution to have the President lead until 2030.
Young Women for ED national chairperson Cde Tatenda Mavetera, added that President Mnangagwa’s track record of excellence motivated the unanimous resolution for him to remain in office until 2030.
Zanu PF Central Committee member, Cde Ezra Chadzamira, noted that the province is on track to expand into an US$8 billion economy by 2030, thanks to the President’s transformative policies.
