The group, one of the legendary jazz outfits in the country, released their first album Blue Sky in 2002.
Speaking on the sidelines of the re-launch of MaMkhwananzi Beerhall in Old Lobengula on Saturday, band member Timothy Nkala said they had identified a recording studio in Plumtree that they would use to come up with their four albums.
He said it was high time they had an album as they had gone for too long without one.
“We want to work on the album in September and we shall work hard in the studio to come up with a well polished act. We have identified a studio in Plumtree and we shall be working closely with the producers,” said Nkala, who could not give details about the number of songs and titles of the albums.
He said the group wanted to finish recording the albums in a short period of time.
Turning to the upcoming Winter Jazz Festival to be held from 26 to 30 July in Harare, Nkala said they were ready to dazzle the crowd in the capital.
The festival this year is running under the theme “Jazz is not a state of mind; it’s a fact of life”.
He said they had new dance routines and would play the popular tune, Bhulugwa Lami.
“We shall be there at the jazz festival and we shall give a sterling performance on 27 July. We are proud of the festival and what it represents and the same events should be held in Bulawayo,” said Nkala.
He said the group would be in Harare for four days during the festival.
Nkala urged young jazz groups to persevere in the genre, as it was difficult to make it to the top, which is why there are few young jazz groups in the country.
“I cannot blame the youth for shunning jazz because it is a difficult genre to master. They go the easy route and do other genres such as sungura.
“Jazz is sophisticated and needs years and years of practice,” said Nkala.
