Cop dies at roadblock

A female police officer died at a roadblock after being hit by a wheel dislodged from a trailer of a haulage  truck.

Constable Mironga of Marondera Traffic Police was among cops and Vehicle Inspectorate Department personnel manning a roadblock at the 51km peg along the Harare-Mutare Road.

National police spokesperson, Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi, confirmed the tragic death of the officer.

“The ZRP confirms the unfortunate death of a police officer at the 51km peg along Harare-Mutare Road when a haulage truck owned by Shereni Transport dislodged a trailer wheel.

“The wheel hit the female police officer who was standing on the left side of the road.

“She passed away on admission to Borrowdale Hospital,” said Ass-Comm Nyathi.
