FILM-MAKER and producer, Stephen Mutsago, has come up with another refreshing movie which tackles drug abuse, among families.
Mutsago, who is a District Press and Public Relations police officer in Mutare, has been hitting the small screens with his movies, which tackle societal challenges, including crime.
Titled Abyss, the movie, whose premiere is set for August 26, marks his eighth production.
He recently produced a crime action movie called Vicious Circle.
The cop, who has been in the force for over nine years, said drug abuse has become an issue of concern.
“The film is based on drug abuse as the nation is seriously concerned over the rise of drug abuse cases.
“We are officially launching this film on August 26, I produced and directed it.
“The film revolves around how families in Zimbabwe are struggling with the effects of Crystalmeth which is being consumed by the youths.
“It’s an awareness on the impact of mutoriro,” he said.
Mutsago said there is need to intensify awareness campaigns.
“The general point to take home is that everyone is affected and everyone should get involved in any possible way to stop the pandemic.
“It aims to create awareness on different socio-economic and political issues that affect the general populace.
“The script writer for these films is Joseph Dzatsata.
“It also features Takunda ‘Jedza’ Nyakauru who is popular for comic skits.”
To his credit, Mutsago has produced movies and documentaries comprising Caged, Effect, Quo Tendimus and Witness.
The production company of this film is Eastlife Entertainment Studios and it has produced films such as Vicious Circle and Smoking Gu.
The movie also features Vicious Circle’s actress Violet Fananidzai, who plays the pastor.
