Cop points gun at nieghbours

A POLICE officer stationed at Mutare Rural is in trouble with the law after he pointed a gun at his neighbours threatening to shoot them.

Felix Chemvumi (32) was not asked to plead when he appeared before senior Mutare magistrate, Mrs Sekai Chiundura this week.

He is facing two counts of criminally pointing a firearm as defined in Section 27(b) of the Firearm Act, Chapter 10: 09.

Mr Victor Chinzamba of Mugadza, Chinzamba and Partners Legal Practitioners represented the cop.

Mr Fletcher Karombe prosecuted.

Allegations were that on January 21 and at Number 4945, Hobhouse Extension, Chemvumi pointed a firearm at Bhenoni Machemedze, his neighbour after he had visited him.

“On January 23, Chemvumi threatened to shoot his other neighbour, Gun Makanyisa who had brought back his axe and warned him against visiting his house,” said Mr Karombe. The matter was adjourned to February 10 for trial.

He paid $40 bail.
