Shalton Ndou (18), Clever Siphuma (30) and Justice Moyo (28) all from Dulibadzimu suburb in Beitbridge were found guilty of stealing copper and they were convicted by Louis Trichardt magistrate, Mr Robert Rambau.
The court heard that some in October last year, the three, who were part of group of about 10 men, went to Vlakte Plaats Farm in Waterpoort and stole the cables.
The three were arrested after they were found in possession of the stolen copper cables worth R22 000. The arrest was as a result of a tip-off from local farmers.
Of late there has been an increase in the number of Zimbabweans being arrested for smuggling stolen copper cables into South Africa through undesignated entry points along the Limpopo River.
Recently, six Beitbridge men among them two police officers were arrested for allegedly attempting to rob suspected copper smugglers of stolen cables worth $18 000.
The suspects were arrested following a shootout with police, which resulted in one of them, Joshua Muzunwa being shot dead.
