Cops get computers

Speaking at the handover ceremony on Friday, Deputy Commissioner General (Crime) Josephine Shambare said the computers and two printers would go a long way in enhancing the operations of the department.

More importantly, such acts of goodwill by members of the corporate community in particular Innscor Africa Group are eloquent testimony of their appreciation and the importance they place on the police, she said. She said the fight against crime was not a lone battle for the force but a collective effort. Deputy Comm Gen Shambare said the donation had come at a time when the police was grappling with serious challenges spawned by lack of meaningful support from the fiscus and the devastating illegal economic sanctions.

She said it was imperative for the force and the corporate community to continuously strengthen and nurture symbiotic relations. Police chief staff officer crime Senior Assistant Commissioner Angelina Guvamombe said despite the illegal sanctions the force’s partnership with Innscor has remained resolute and supported police efforts to maintain peace and order, thus exhibiting patriotism and total commitment to Zimbabwe.
