POLICE in Mutare have launched a manhunt for two suspected armed robbers who last Friday attacked and robbed a 37-year-old woman of cash and grocery at her tuck-shop in Zimunya.

Manicaland police spokesperson Inspector Tavhiringwa Kakohwa said the armed criminals got away with $150 cash and grocery valued at over $1 000.

“The robbers attacked Ms Anna Chirara, at Temberere Village, under Chief Zimunya, Mutare at around 6pm,” he said.

“She was in her tuck-shop with her worker Primrose Chimhere (21).

“The armed robbers suddenly stormed into the tuck-shop wearing balaclavas and holding machetes and threatened to kill the complainant if she did not comply with their demands.”

The two armed suspects, who could not be identified, then demanded cash and grocery.

Ms Chirara complied with the armed robbers’ demands and gave them $150 cash.
