POLICE have launched a manhunt for a Gwanda man who allegedly fatally stabbed his wife’s boyfriend in her and her relatives’ presence. Acting Midlands provincial police spokesperson, Assistant Inspector Ethel Mukwende, said police were looking for Londani Moyo, 30, of River Block, Gwanda in connectionwith the murder of Sikhulumani Sithole, 26, of Nyaguve Village in Mberengwa.
She said Moyo’s wife, Cretence Mpofu, was allegedly involved in an extra-marital affair with Sithole.
Asst Insp Mukwende said on Christmas day last year in Gwanda, Mpofu had a misunderstanding with her husband and she decided to go back to her family’s homestead in Mberengwa.
She said on February 15 this year, Moyo allegedly followed her.
He allegedly arrived at her parents homestead in Mberengwa at around 7:30PM and was told that his wife was not home.
“Moyo asked the whereabouts of his wife from Mpofu’s younger sister who professed ignorance. Moyo threatened to kill his wife’s younger sister who then told him that she knew her whereabouts,” said Asst Insp Mukwende.
She said Moyo forced marched the 16-year-old girl and her aunt to Sithole’s homestead.
“On approaching Sithole’s homestead, the 16-year-old girl shouted, calling on her sister Mpofu to hide since Moyo was threatening to kill everyone associated with her,” she said.
She said Mpofu on hearing voices outside Sithole’s bedroom hut, came out to investigate and Moyo produced an okapi knife.
Asst Insp Mukwende said Sithole also came out of his bedroom hut and Moyo charged at him and stabbed him on the collar bone with the knife.
Moyo then fled the scene.
