POLICE in Bulawayo have launched a manhunt for a man who allegedly petrol-bombed a Nkulumane house, killing one person and seriously injuring three others. Acting Bulawayo police spokesperson Assistant Inspector Abednico Ncube, said the fugitive, Billy Sibanda, 43, allegedly committed the offence last year. He said Sibanda threw petrol bombs into house number 11590 where he used to reside following an undisclosed dispute with his relatives.
“One of the inhabitants Mthandazo Moyo, 35, was killed in the incident.
“In the house was Sithembiso Ndlovu, 36, Gift Nkatha, 17, Samantha Dube, 18, Ashley Ndlovu, 11 and Tatenda Ndlovu who survived the resulting inferno,” he said.
Asst Insp Ncube said on June, 5, Sibanda was positively identified by witnesses at the scene who saw him throwing several petrol bombs into the house.
“He went to the now deceased’s residence and threw an unknown number of petrol bombs through one of the bedroom windows, setting the whole house ablaze,” said Asst Insp Ncube. He said the suspect was considered dangerous and should be approached with caution.
Asst Insp Ncube called on members of the public who might have information leading to his arrest to approach their nearest police.
“Anyone with information on his whereabouts can contact the Officer in Charge Homicide, Inspector Stephen Mpofu on 09-715668, 0713 254 081 or the investigating officer Detective Asst Insp Mpofu on 0772 117 550 or report to any nearest police station,” said Asst Insp Ncube.
