In a significant move to enhance medical aid accessibility, Corporate 24 has launched MyPlan, an innovative, budget-friendly medical aid product specifically tailored for low to medium-income earners.
The medical aid facility was developed after extensive market research and consultations with healthcare stakeholders, including doctors and hospital representatives,
Speaking during the launch yesterday, the Corporate 24 Chief Executive Mr Mike Joka said MyPlan offers a customisable approach to medical coverage.
“We understand that many individuals have limited disposable income, but we also recognise the flexibility in their budgets.
“This product is designed to help them allocate resources towards essential healthcare without breaking the bank.”
“MyPlan stands out for its unique customisable structure, allowing members to select specific benefits that suit their needs and budgets, unlike traditional medical aid packages that offer a one size fits all solution Basic benefits start as low as US$1 per member for public hospital admission,” he said.
Mr Joka said the core offerings from MyPlan include three main benefits: consultations and treatments at general practitioners (GPs) and 24-hour medical centres, emergency cover, and hospitalisation.
“Members can also opt for additional benefits, such as pharmacy drug coverage, laboratory tests, X-rays, scans, and ambulance services for as little as US$1 monthly.
“Joining MyPlan has been made user-friendly through digital platforms. Interested individuals can connect via the Corporate 24 chatbot on WhatsApp to select their preferred benefits, add beneficiaries, and complete payments through various channels, including EcoCash and Mastercard.
“We are excited to provide a seamless joining process that eliminates the need for sales agents or physical office visits. People can now access medical aid from the comfort of their homes,” Mr Joka said.
He said MyPlan was affordable and accessible.
” With only about 5 percent of Zimbabwe’s nearly 15 million population currently enrolled on medical aid, the launch of MyPlan comes at a critical time when affordable healthcare options are desperately needed. The service is designed to cater for urgent healthcare needs across the country, guaranteeing access to both private facilities and emergency services, ” he said.
“Waiting periods for coverage range from 2 to 6 months, depending on selected benefits, ” he said.
He said MyPlan unfolds, increases medical aid participation and provides valuable healthcare support to those who need it most.
“Experts have emphasised the importance of opting for private medical aid solutions as there may be challenges at public health institutions. Joining medical aid that does not provide access to private facilities is a missed opportunity,” he said.
Mr Joka said with top-tier hospitalisation and emergency cover ranging from US$20 to US$60 per month, MyPlan aims to ensure comprehensive access to healthcare services, including emergency treatment in Grade A and B private hospitals.
“MyPlan is all about choice, budget, and personal preferences. By allowing people to customise their medical aid, we aim to remove barriers to entry and encourage more individuals to join,” Mr Joka said.
Speaking at the same event, guest Speaker and former banker, Dr Nigel Chanakira, said the initiatives will continue to embrace health facilities.
“This moment marks a significant milestone, not only for the organisation, but more importantly for Zimbabwe’s populace. This move will improve in the health facilities as the prices of MyPlan are cheap and affordable. So this means any one can have medical aid cover,” he said.
