He is the first medical doctor to win a business award at a function held in Harare last Friday.
Dr Joka won the prestigious award ahead of Cimas Medical Aid Society chief executive Macdonald Chaora and British American Tobacco Zimbabwe (Ltd) managing director Lovemore Manatsa who came first and second runners-up respectively.
The award recognises the overall business profitability, return-on-investment and growth, long-term sustainability and employment creation as well as contribution to community.
Presenting the prestigious award, ZNCC Harare branch chairperson Divine Ndlukula described Dr Joka as a unique, innovative entrepreneur and par-excellent business and medical project consultant who has helped transform the health delivery system in Zimbabwe.
“His company opened doors in 2010 and the number of employees has increased from three in 2011 to 72 in 2012 and this number is expected to treble when the new facilities open later this year,” Mrs Ndlukula said.
She said such innovation contributed to employment creation as well as providing world class health services to the people of Zimbabwe.
Finance Minister Tendai Biti said having intelligent young people like Dr Joka in the country is inspiring and gives hope that there are Zimbabweans capable of turning the economy around.
Dr Joka expressed gratitude to ZNCC for honouring his contribution towards developing sustainable business models against the backdrop of challenges affecting start-up businesses and the economy at large.
“I am on cloud nine and very humbled by this award, I hope it will inspire many young people to excel in business,” he said.
Corporate 24 is a hospital group that operates a medical facility in Belgravia with two other branches opening soon in Bulawayo and one in Eastlea, Harare.
The facilities has state-of-the-art emergency and walk in services.
Support services offered include pharmacy, X-rays, ultra scan, travel vaccinations, laboratory services, ambulance services and a coffee shop.
Turnover of Corporate 24 grew 90 percent in 2011 and 132 percent in 2012.
The number of patients increased from 13 patients daily at inception to a daily average of 90 patients at present.
Dr Joka is also founder of Ultra Medical Aid that offers medical aid cover to corporates and people of Zimbabwe.
The medical aid offers cost-effective comprehensive packages. His diversified portfolio also includes hardware retail through his Pinwood brand.
