CORRECTIONAL Queens continued their push towards the top of the Zimbabwe Women Premier Soccer League with an away win at Bulawayo Chiefs Village on Wednesday.
The Queens took the lead as early as 11 minutes when Kudzanai Chiparausha surged forward and capitalised on the Mposa defenders’ ineptitude and gave her side an early breakthrough.
Midway, the game turned into the Correctional Queens’ favour after a mistake made by the Mposa goalkeeper where she came in to assist defenders and brought down the opposition striker Skhulekile Nyoni in the box resulting in a penalty.
Chiparausha stepped in and scored the second goal.
Commenting on the incident the Mposa coach Evans Netha had this to say: “We made some goal keeping errors and I cannot blame her because she has saved us a multiple times but I have to applaud my players for playing a very good game.”
In an Attempt to get back into the game Mpopoma coach made changes and substituted Rufaro Maphosa for Lekeiva Jaravani and Nadya Mtshiya for Praise Neshiri.
The visitors scored the third through Blessing Dube to seal the game after the break.
With the win Correctional Services moved to 35 points from 16 matches on position four while Mposa Academy are on 19 points and eighth in the race.
Black Rhinos continued with the chase beating Chegutu Community 3-2 to take their points’ tally to 36 and stay one behind Chapungu Queens who were held to a 0-0 draw.
