COSAFA HEARTBREAK IN BLOEM! Warriors win but still crash out as South Africa sneak through

ZIMBABWE’S COSAFA Cup dream is over, and not even a 3-1 thumping of Mozambique could save them.

The Warriors finally found their rhythm on Tuesday in Bloemfontein, bagging their first goals and win of the tournament. But it was too little, too late. Despite finishing level on four points with South Africa and Mozambique, Zimbabwe were booted out on goal difference.

Thando Ngwenya lit up the first half with a brilliant brace before Junior Makunike sealed the deal late on. But a deflected Mozambican goal and that frustrating goalless draw against Mauritius earlier in the group came back to haunt the Warriors.

South Africa, the hosts, snuck into the semi-finals with a better goal tally. Zimbabwe are left heartbroken, reflecting on missed chances and what could have been.
