HERENTALS Queens will have to wait a bit longer before they know who they will face in the COSAFA Women’s Champions League qualifiers after the regional bloc postponed the draw indefinitely.

“Vagoni Vebasa” will represent the country, for the season running, in the regional qualifier of the elite CAF Women’s tournament.

The COSAFA qualifiers will be staged in Johannesburg, South Africa, from August 22 to 31.

The draw of the eight-team tournament was originally scheduled to take place tomorrow but COSAFA has since revealed that the event has been shelved.

“The draw (for the COSAFA Women’s Champions League qualifiers) has been postponed,” said COSAFA’s Lynda Greeff.

She said the new date for the draw is yet to be confirmed.

But that will do little to dampen the spirit of the Student Queens who will be keen to use the experience gained in their debut last year to make a huge impression this time around.

Herentals Queens reached the semi-finals where they were knocked out by Gaborone United of Botswana following a 1-0 defeat.

They had, however, made a huge statement by defeating Zambia’s Green Buffaloes, one-time champions of the region, in the group stages.

Green Buffaloes, Gaborone United and serial winners Mamelodi Sundowns of South Africa are some of the big teams involved in the draw.

Winners from the region will progress to the continental finals where they will face champions from other zones later this year.
