The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Trade has kicked off its Annual Strategic Planning Review Workshop in Harare, unveiling an aggressive, results-based roadmap designed to translate diplomatic engagement into tangible economic returns for the nation.

This marks a shift in the conduct of the country’s foreign policy, as Government moves away from standard ceremonial reporting to a performance-driven system where every mission and agreement is measured by its contribution to the national economy.

At the centre of the deliberations is the alignment of Zimbabwe’s global diplomatic footprint with the country’s domestic economic blueprints, the National Development Strategy 2 (NDS2) and Vision 2030.

The workshop being held under the theme: “From Strategy to Results: Advancing Zimbabwe’s National Interests through Coordinated, Accountable and Results-Driven Diplomacy”, comes after Zimbabwe yesterday assumed the chairmanship of the COMESA bloc following the successful hosting of the 25th Summit of Heads of State and Government from 19 to 22 October.

As Zimbabwe also prepares to serve on the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) as a non-permanent member for the 2027-2028 term, the meeting is expected to set the tone for a more assertive and economically driven foreign policy during the NDS2 period.
