Council to collect garbage three times a day

Online Reporter

The Harare City Council (HCC) says it has introduced three daily refuse collection shifts, including one in the evening, to clear garbage dumps in residential areas.

The local on Tuesday announced a refuse collection drive that will run from January 31 to February 5.

Garbage dumps have piled up in most suburbs where council has repeatedly failed to collect refuse due to a shortage of trucks, fuel and poor management.

However, in a statement following the approval of council’s 2022 budget, HCC promised better service delivery.

“Council is going to implement a three-shift garbage-collection schedule on a daily basis.

“The third shift is designed to collect garbage from dumps in the evenings,” reads a statement from council.
