There are prospects of a promising winter cropping season as the country has harvested sufficient water for irrigation from the current rainy season, the Zimbabwe National Water Authority (ZINWA) has said.
In a statement on Wednesday, ZINWA spokesperson Mrs Marjorie Manyonga said more than half of the country’s dams are full.
“With dams filling up, a promising winter cropping season beckons. With close working relations and collaborations with the farming community, we can achieve food security,” she said.
By the end of last week, 52,3 percent of dams were full, while another 13,9 percent stood at 90 percent.
