THE City of Harare is set to introduce a new system to monitor billboards amid indications that most of the billboards in the city were erected illegally and the local authority is not deriving any revenue from them.

Harare Mayor Councillor Jacob Mafume said over 5 000 billboards were erected illegally and were not paying revenue to the city.

“The city is going to demolish all illegal billboards and we are going to have a system that is going to register all billboards so that we raise income from them,” he said.
