COUNCIL WARNS OF BLITZ ON ILLEGAL BUSINESSES

Paul Pindani in CHINHOYI

The MUNICIPALITY of Chinhoyi is leaving no stone unturned in its quest to have an orderly development and operation of businesses within its jurisdiction.

The local authority wants to embark on a blitz targeting operations of illegal businesses in undesignated areas.

In a notice to the residents, Acting Town Clerk, Engineer Simon Marara, said their operation would target all businesses within the Municipality of Chinhoyi without proper authorisation, permits, and valid lease agreements.

Marara said these include those operating businesses along major roads, at shopping centres and in residential areas.

He said business activities which are specifically prohibited in the designated areas include food services like mobile kitchens and mobile cash containers.

Hair salons, barber shops, tuckshops, welding,  carpentry, automotive services like garages, car washes, tyre repairs and clothing vendors, LP gas outlets and those selling phone accessories.

“The Municipality of Chinhoyi is committed to ensuring the orderly development and operation of businesses within its jurisdiction.

“All individuals operating such businesses are strongly advised to cease operations immediately and to dismantle any illegal structures by not later than February 10, 2025.”

He said failure to comply with the notice will result in the seizure of goods or equipment used in conducting unauthorised business activities.

He said the businessmen and women should address this matter with the urgency it deserves to avoid financial loss and or legal consequences.
