Ward 2 Councillor Stephen Samson has been elected as the new deputy mayor for Epworth.
He succeeds former Ward 6 Councillor Nobody Makoni who was convicted of criminal abuse of office.
Epworth Local Board town clerk Dr Wilton Mhanda said Cllr Samson beat Ward 5 Councillor Chamunorwa Takundwa.
“He was nominated and votes were cast. He contested against Cllr Takundwa of Ward 5,” he said.
“The elections were to fill the vacancy left by former councillor Nobody Makoni, who was convicted.”
