Councillors face censure

Local Government, Rural and Urban Development secretary Mr Killian Mpingo, on Monday confirmed the councillors and officials travelled without Cabinet authority in defiance of a Government directive requiring the issuance of the authority before trips outside the country.

“I do not remember processing any Cabinet authority in respect of Harare councillors going to South Africa. It is mandatory that such senior officials travel on the basis of Cabinet authority issued by the Cabinet office,” he said.
Town clerk Dr Tendai Mahachi was evasive when asked to comment on the matter.
