Sikhumbuzo Moyo in Plumtree Town
THE Plumtree Magistrates Court will today take to the streets in a public awareness drive to school residents about the new Integrated Electronic Case Management System (IECMS), which is being rolled out nationwide.
The colourful procession will march from the Plumtree courtyard into town, with officials from the Judicial Service Commission (JSC) distributing explainer fliers in Tjikalanga, IsiNdebele and English while engaging the public face to face.
The IECMS was first introduced in magistrates’ courts in January and has since been phased into several provinces. Today’s event signals the extension of the programme to Matabeleland South and Masvingo, where 16 courts are set to go digital.
Already, Mashonaland Central and Matabeleland North magistrates’ courts went live on the platform at the beginning of July.
The new digital system is designed to transform courts into a paperless environment — with electronic case filing, tracking and even virtual hearings becoming the norm. Members of the public will now be able to check case statuses electronically anytime, anywhere.
According to the JSC, the system boosts efficiency and accountability while cutting transport costs and saving time. It also enhances transparency, encourages collaboration and guarantees 24/7 service availability.
For Plumtree, today’s roadshow is more than just a march — it’s the first step into the future of digital justice.
