BUSINESS was recently brought to a halt at Headman Chigodora’s court after a woman of cloth who had been summoned to the court went into a trance and started speaking in tongues, while also threatening her former clients.

The woman, only identified as Mai Sithole, prayed, spoke in tongues and delivered prophesies for Headman Chigodora and other people who were attending the court session.

As Mai Sithole went into overdrive, two people who were in the gallery started crying and speaking in tongues.

“If you are not careful Headman Chigodora, bad people will kill you. Do not accept blood money at your court. You should collect some soil from where you hold your court sessions and pray for it.

“That way you will keep people who want to kill you at bay. My Lord, this man will not prematurely die, bless him, he is a good man,” she said before crawling to Headman Chigodora’s seat to hold his hands and pray for him.

After that, Mai Sithole turned to journalists and ordered them to retract an article in which her clients were accusing her of cursing their daughter.

“I have a child in Ghana and another one in USA. They saw what you wrote and communicated with me. You should correct what you published, otherwise God’s wrath will be on you. You will be cursed because of your jobs. Correct everything, but to those who summoned me to court today, I want you to apologise because you have tarnished my name,” she shouted.

The woman had been summoned to the court to explain her role in the feud between Partner Mutanga, her ex-husband Malvin Kureya and her former in-laws.

Partner’s mother, Tabitha Mvududu, claimed that Mai Sithole was contracted by her daughter’s ex-husband, Kureya, to curse her.

However, Mai Sithole claimed that when Partner was brought to her, she was already under a spell.

She said she tried to break the curse by making incision marks (nyora) on Partner’s body.

“They brought this girl to me as they wanted me to help her, she was not feeling well. Now they are accusing me of cursing her. If the truth be told, this young woman had those incisions on her body from a young age but they were invisible. I was only trying to help her,” said Mai Sithole.

Partner has 16 incisions all over her body and she says Mai Sithole put them on her under Kureya’s instructions.

Her mother said the incisions have ruined Partner’s chances of remarrying three years after parting ways with Kureya.

She said the Kureyas are jealous of her daughter’s beauty and success, and therefore do not want her to remarry despite kicking her out.

“Partner is now suffering from nightmares and depression. This has created a rift between my husband and I.

“The incisions are not only affecting Partner’s love life, but her sisters’ as well.

“They are having challenges in their relationships. I just want my daughter to be freed from this bondage so that she can lead a normal life,” said Mvududu.

Partner said her mother-in-law was instructed by her son to take her to Mai Sithole.

“I did not know what they wanted to do because I was very young. They told me to remove my blouse and the woman first pricked me with a needle before cutting my flesh with a razor blade.

“She rubbed some herbs on the incision. I have three incisions on each breast, more on my waist, back, forehead and palm.

“Ever since then, I have been having sleepless nights and men detest me. It is as if they do not want me to get married to anyone else, yet their son turned his back on me,” she said.

Partner said immediately after the incisions were made, she had a miscarriage and was divorced.

Kureya, however, vehemently denied the allegations.

“We only took her to Mai Sithole because milk was leaking from her breasts, yet she was only pregnant, not breastfeeding. She got the help she wanted and the problem stopped. No incisions were put on her body. She was assisted just like any other pregnant woman,” said Kureya.

In his ruling, Headman Chigodora ordered the Kureya and Mutanga families to pay US$35 each to appease Mai Sithole for tarnishing her image.
