Covid-19 claims 4 543 lives in Zimbabwe

FIVE people succumbed to Covid-19 yesterday as the country recorded 130 new cases in the last 24-hour reporting period.

The country has so far recorded 126 399 cases, 4 543 deaths and 19 049 recoveries. The national recovery rate stands at 72 percent with active cases going down to 27 800

Mashonaland East recorded two deaths each followed by Manicaland, Bulawayo and Harare which had one death each while other provinces recorded zero deaths.

All the cases are local transmissions.

The vaccination programme is continuing countrywide with 2 856 955 people having received the first dose while 1 894 780people got the second jab.

A total of 11 807 people received their first jab yesterday and 31 644 their second.  The seven-day rolling average for new cases rises slightly to 104 today from 102 yesterday.

As of September 13, 2021 at 3PM, 136 people were hospitalised with 5 new admissions. Two people were admitted in intensive care units (ICU) while 85 had mild to moderate symptoms.

25 patients had severe symptoms while 24 were asymptomatic.
