Covid-19: Containment measures bearing fruit

THE country’s containment measures against Covid-19 are bearing fruit, with more recoveries and fewer deaths being recorded in Manicaland Province over the last three days.

According to figures released by the Ministry of Health and Child Care yesterday, the province had 198 recoveries; showing a significant increase from Monday and Sunday’s which both stood at zero.

From the seven deaths recorded on each of those two days as well, the number dropped to two on Tuesday.

This shows a positive trend in the recovery and death cases, which is mostly attributable to the intervention and control efforts by Government in response to the third wave of the Covid-19 outbreak.

However, health experts have urged rural communities in Manicaland to take preventive measures seriously by observing the national lockdown protocols as well as getting vaccinated so that the gains realised so far in the fight against the pandemic are not reserved.

The encouragement for people in the province to get inoculated, especially those in the rural communities, follows similar calls recently made by Chief Mutasa.
