Covid-19 local transmissions continue to rise

LOCAL Covid-19 transmission cases continue to rise in Zimbabwe, a situation that has worried health authorities in the country.

According to the Ministry of Health and Child Care, on Wednesday the country recorded 62 confirmed cases of Covid-19 of which 50 were local transmissions bringing the number of cases contracted locally to 1837 as compared to 1 042 imported cases.

To date the country has recorded a total of 2 879 confirmed case of which 1 951 are active cases.

“62 cases tested positive for Covid-19 today (Wednesday). These include 50 local case and 12 returnees who are in isolation. New recoveries were reported by Bulawayo province (275) and Manicaland province (eight).

“(We regret to report one facility death from Manicaland Province. The death is of a female aged 32. Since the onset of the pandemic on 20 March 2020, the total number of cases is 2879, recovered 887, active cases 1951 and 41 deaths,” reads the update.

Harare and Bulawayo remain the epicentre of the pandemic with 932 and 786 cases recorded cases respectively.
