LOCAL actress and content creator Thando Nkiwane, popularly known as Dramatic Miss, has urged young people to embrace content creation as a viable career while stressing the patience, dedication and consistency required to succeed in the fast-growing industry.

Nkiwane was among the featured speakers at the two-day Scholastica Expo 2026, hosted by the Zimbabwe International Trade Fair (ZITF), where she shared her journey in the creative industry and encouraged learners to explore opportunities beyond conventional career paths.

Underway at the ZITF grounds in Bulawayo, the annual specialised exhibition is designed to expose high school learners to a wide range of career opportunities and help them make informed choices as they plan their education and professional futures.

As one of Zimbabwe’s leading content creators, Nkiwane was part of a panel that focused on careers in the arts, sports and humanities during the opening day of the expo. Drawing from her experience as an actress and digital content creator, Nkiwane spoke about the evolution of Zimbabwe’s creative industry and how content creation has developed into a potentially rewarding profession for young people willing to put in the work.

She also unpacked the opportunities available within content creation, including building a distinctive personal brand, growing and retaining an audience, and navigating the demands of an increasingly competitive digital landscape.

However, she cautioned learners against viewing content creation as an easy route to success, emphasising that it requires the same commitment and discipline expected in any other profession.
“With the theme RISE, it was an honour to speak to the young people from various schools with the objective to inspire and help navigate their future choices as well as education on content creation,” she said.

The opening day featured a diverse line-up of speakers from the creative sector, including Gilmore Khumalo, Atipa Busuman, Vuyo Brown, Ernest Mackina, Nomashawekazi “Lady Tshawe” and Patience Ziramba, who shared their experiences and advice with learners interested in pursuing careers in the creative space.”

Today will shift the spotlight to commercials and future careers, with Econet Zimbabwe expected to lead sessions exploring opportunities in the corporate and commercial space.

Through the annual exhibition, ZITF seeks to provide young people with exposure to career paths available in the modern economy while connecting them with professionals who can offer practical insights into different industries. The 2026 Scholastica Expo runs until September 18.
