Travellers from countries afflicted with the Covid-19 Delta variant will no longer be quarantined upon arrival in Zimbabwe.

This was announced by Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services Minister, Monica Mutsvangwa after Tuesday’s Cabinet meeting.

She said considering that 98 percent of COVID-19 cases in Zimbabwe are of the Delta variant, there was no longer need to quarantine travellers from countries afflicted with the variant, such as India.

Prior to the announcement, travellers arriving to Zimbabwe from countries with the Alpha and Delta variants of COVID-19, or those who transited such countries en route to Zimbabwe, were being quarantined at government appointed facilities at the traveller’s expense.

These travellers were tested for COVID-19 on the first, third, fifth, and tenth days at their expense.
