PRESIDENTIAL adviser Paul Tungwarara has formally commissioned the Cowdray Park Presidential Borehole Scheme in Bulawayo amid pomp and fanfare.

The scheme comprises two 5 000-litre water tanks that will provide clean domestic water to the local community. A one-hectare fenced nutritional garden has already been established and will also draw water from the same borehole.

Briefing Dr Tungwarara and other dignitaries during the commissioning ceremony, Prevail Group public relations executive Ms Tariro Dondo said the project is powered by a solar energy system designed to ensure a reliable water supply.

“The solar panels are located about 300 metres from where the tanks are mounted. The system is designed in such a way that it can continue supplying power even when there is no direct sunlight,” said Ms Dondo.

The Presidential Borehole Scheme is part of ongoing efforts to improve access to clean and safe water in communities across the country while also supporting food security initiatives through community nutrition gardens.
