CRAFT Properties continues to get international recognition after the United Nations Global Compact identified the property development company as a key stakeholder in the achievement of UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The company will also participate in the African Business Leaders Forum as it seeks to play a major role in the energy sector through collaboration with other players from Africa and the Middle East.
Craft Properties sees itself playing a role in coming up with customised electrification strategies anchored on grid extension, mini-grid development and off-grid solutions for its housing and property development projects.
Craft Properties founder and chief executive officer Professor Kudakwashe Taruberekera said investors have been lined up to establish a solar plant.
“Already we have some investors coming into the country between June 20 and July 4 to finalise the establishment of a solar plant and the various conferences and summits lined up work towards building our network and knowledge on how to incorporate modern trends for greater impact in the communities,” said Prof Taruberekera.
As part of efforts to promote integrity and impact in communities, the UN will host the UN Global Compact Leaders’ Summit in New York, which will bring together government, business and civil society to brainstorm and come up with solutions to global challenges.
Prof Taruberekera will also participate at the Summit, which will take stock of progress in achieving SDGs milestones.
The summits seek to establish innovative financing models and capacity building at community level.
A webinar on Promoting Corporate Purpose and Incentivising Integrity on April 28 will precede the UN Summit slated for September 23, 2025.
The UN Global Compact supported the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) will host the webinar.
