THE lives of 15 people living with disabilities (PWD) in Kadoma are set for a major transformation after they received residential stands from Craft Properties.
The firm has finalised plans for all 15 stands. Other players are expected to help finance the development of the stands.
Mashonaland West Provincial Affairs and Devolution Minister Marian Chombo presided over the handover ceremony.
She commended the private sector for complementing the Government in the provision of housing and uplifting previously marginalised groups.
“This ties in with the Government’s drive to ensure no one or place is left behind towards upper middle-income status by 2030,” she said.
Craft Properties chief executive officer Professor Kudakwashe Taruberekera said the donation was aimed at restoring dignity to people living with disability and also set them on a path of economic revival.
“Our desire is always to contribute to the Government’s desire to transform the lives of people and fulfil ideals set out in the National Development Strategy (NDS1) towards Vision 2030,” he said.
Mrs Loretta Mufandaedza, a beneficiary, hailed Craft Properties for the gesture, which she said was key in improving the lives of PWDs.
“Having your own place to live is the first step towards being empowered and I am grateful for this gesture by Craft Properties,” she said.
“It is not easy being a tenant and sometimes it gets worse because of the conditions we have as people with disabilities.”
