Having been opened in Eastlea in 1992, Twin Rivers Primary School moved to Avondale in 1994.
The environment at the school is very inspiring. What stands out is the functionality of the design.
The place is well-laid-out to accommodate the movement of traffic. The grounds reflect the institution’s goal of producing well-rounded learners
Twin Rivers employs an estate manager, Mr Ken Rowe, who takes care of the surroundings to the satisfaction of the school management committee.

He said they are greening up their space in a bid to create a good learning environment, one that is conducive for learners to derive the most benefit during the time they are at the learning institution.
From the entrance, the choice of indigenous trees shows their understanding of environmental issues.
Since the area is located in a wetland, there was no better tree to have than acacia xanthophloea as it thrives in a vlei.
There are green lawns around the classrooms and sports grounds.

Hardly is there a portion that is not paved or greened up.
We see the use of greenery to create a healthy atmosphere as plants release oxygen, which we breathe, and get rid of harmful gases around the school.
The learning institution boasts a large maintenance team, which ensures that trees are trimmed and lawns are cut.
It also has an automated watering system. The end result is a presentable school.

The same is true of the recently established infant section at the school.
Having low-maintenance plants such as palms, succulents and shade vegetation is commendable.
There is clear signage around the school that helps one to navigate the premises in an orderly manner.
Neatness is the order of the day at the school.

There are a number of sitting areas provided for learners as they enjoy sports.
The learners can also use the space for resting between lessons.
Schools around the country can learn a thing or two from this institution, which has seemingly mastered the greening-up concept.
