co-ordinator Reverend Chimbambo, this is an historical occasion that is expected to bring together the market place and prayer intercessors in one place.
The business prayer luncheon will bring together business people, pastors, community leaders and members of the public. It will also be a key networking platform, which will provide organisations an opportunity to partner with IFZ as they set in motion prayer programmes in all the ten provinces, and every city and town in the country.
The keynote address will be delivered by one of Zimbabwe’s business leaders Mr Nigel Chanakira, while Pastor Bhasera will lead in the prayer for Zimbabwe’s economy.
“The day will be significant as we hope that market place leaders will be raised in the order of the biblical Deborah, Daniel, Esther, and Anna who will be part of the national transformation in Zimbabwe”, said Reverend Chimbambo.
Intercessors for Zimbabwe is an inter-denominational prayer movement that brings together intercessors from different backgrounds to be united in prayer.
IFZ’s goal is to saturate Zimbabwe with intercessory prayer, to mobilise, educate and inform the whole body of Christ about the need for interceding for the nation.
Glory Ministries celebrates 10th anniversary
Glory Ministries will be celebrating their 10th anniversary, holding their official launch and an international convention at the same time.
The anniversary celebrations will be held in Zengeza, Chitungwiza.
Glory Ministries is pastored by Apostle Pride Sibiya, and it was founded in 2001.
According to Apostle Sibiya, “The ministry houses a number of works under it which include churches; evangelism and mission efforts; business empowerment facilities; educational and intellectual
development; medical and psychological help-centres, etc. It also ministers through charitable organisations, community development and socio-economic enhancement programmes.”
Apostle Sibiya told The Herald that Glory Ministries is presently in Zimbabwe, South Africa and Zambia.
“When the ministry started, God spoke to the Apostle that he should not immediately launch the ministry but do it after 10 years. This is why this year’s Tiyambuke (Let’s cross over) Convention is special: it is the normal convention but it also has a ten-year anniversary aspect to it, in addition to this official launch,” said Apostle Sibiya.
The Pontiff
Finally, Pope Benedict XVI is currently on a pilgrimage in Spain. According to a BBC news report on Thursday evening, the head of the Catholic Church was visiting a country that is increasingly growing secular. This was said while I was compiling the forthcoming events for this issue. It made me ask why major events like open-air crusades are rarely held in Harare’s leafy suburbs.
Yesterday, the Pope’s message to nuns in Spain seemed cognisant of that: “Your lives must testify to the personal encounter with Christ which has nourished your consecration, and to all the transforming power of that encounter,” said the pope.
“This is all the more important today when we see a certain ‘eclipse of God’ taking place, a kind of amnesia which, albeit not an outright rejection of Christianity, is nonetheless a denial of the treasure of our faith, a denial that could lead to the loss of our deepest identity,” he said.
