CREME DE LA PREM . . . Premier League all-time points table ahead of 30th anniversary

THE Premier League is celebrating 30 years this summer.

After replacing the old First Division in 1992-93, the Prem is now set to welcome its 31st season in 2022-23.

But who has been the best team across the full three decades?

Manchester United are the runaway leaders in terms of titles – winning 13 of the 30 available, all under Sir Alex Ferguson.

Neighbours City have six, ahead of Chelsea (five) and Arsenal (three).

In all, seven clubs have won the Premier League, with Blackburn, Leicester and Liverpool the others.

But what about points? Who is the best club across 30 full seasons based on total points, rather than titles?

Well, United are still the clear leaders on that front, too.

The Old Trafford giants have amassed a whopping 2,366 points from their 1,152 games.

That’s over 200 points clear of any other club.

While Man Utd are the runaway leaders, the race for second and third is unbelievably tight.

In fact, despite both clubs playing 1 152 matches, there is only three points behind Arsenal (2 141) and Chelsea (2 138).

Liverpool comfortably secure fourth place with 2,109 points.

That’s miles away of fifth-placed Tottenham, who have earned 1,787 points from their 1,152 games.

That’s more than Man City who are down in sixth with just 1,629 points.

Despite their recent dominance, the blue half of Manchester have spent five seasons outside of the top-flight and even slipped into the third tier in 1998-99, meaning they’ve played just 962 Prem games.

Everton (1 574pts), Newcastle (1 410), Aston Villa (1 358) and West Ham (1 258) complete the top ten.

Southampton (1,063) are the only other club to break the 1,000-point barrier as they rank 11th.

But what about the worst team in Premier League history?

That honour goes to Swindon, who were relegated after their one-season cameo – earning just 30 points from their 42 games.

Barnsley mustered 35 points from 38 games, with Blackpool (39pts), and Brentford (46, and counting) just above them.

Huddersfield and Bradford sit just above them on 53 and 62 points respectively, with both enjoying two Premier League seasons. The Sun.
