Cristiano enjoys new sport

Cristiano Ronaldo was spotted taking in a new sport just days after celebrating his 40th birthday.

It’s been a week dominated by birthday celebrations for the Al-Nassr forward, who hosted a birthday party with ‘family and friends’ to commemorate the occasion.

He initially celebrated his landmark birthday in unusual style by donning a pair of £4,000 compression boots at his home in Saudi Arabia.

Just a few days later, Ronaldo was back on the pitch and back in the goals for the Saudi side after scoring during their 3-0 win over Al-Fayha.

However, now that the birthday festivities have settled down, the veteran forward found time to enjoy a new sport and cheered on a Portuguese duo as they competed.

It was the Premier Padel tournament in Riyadh where Ronaldo was spotted in the stands — with brother Miguel and Nuno Deus competing in it.

The duo were able to secure their place in the main draw of the competition after an impressive 6-3, 6-2 victory over Ivan Ramirez and Denis Perino.

Snaps of the superstar watching on from the stands quickly went viral, as Ronaldo looked focused on the thrilling padel match the unfolded.

This isn’t Ronaldo’s first foray into the sport, however, after he previously demonstrated his impressive padel skills back in 2023.

His skills on the court were uncovered after he indulged in a padel session while on a post-season trip to Singapore.

After speaking to children in the country, he took part in a light-hearted game of Padel, the racquet sport similar to squash and tennis.

He posted on Instagram to his 588million followers saying: ‘Coming soon to Asia @primepadelsport — thanks for the rally!’, with the post already liked nearly 3,5million times.

The footage showed veteran Ronaldo looking comfortable and relaxed with a racquet in his hand, as local kids cheered his every shot loudly.

Meanwhile, in clips that circulated on social media of his extravagant birthday celebration, Ronaldo and Georgina Rodriguez were seen sharing an intimate dance.

Among those who reacted to the post were Ronaldo’s former team-mate and ex-Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea, who humourously responded with a granddad emoji.

Ronaldo enjoyed celebrating his birthday at Al-Nassr hours earlier, as his club team-mates — including new £65 million January signing Jhon Duran — gifted the Portuguese legend a stunning custom-made cake.

In a video posted on X by Al-Nassr, the forward was seen arriving at the club’s training ground being welcomed by his team-mates, who began singing for him. — dailymailonline.
