The Kariba man who survived a horrific crocodile attack early this year, Alexander Chimedza, is a grateful man overcoming broken bones, impaired limbs and being stranded in a Zambian hospital as the bills mounted.
He was rushed to Mutendere Hospital in Zambia for urgent treatment but was left with a K1 600 hospital bill. When his plight was publicised, a Zambian came forward to help with K1 600 to secure his release from the hospital.
A Zimbabwean also chipped in with K1 600 that covered his transport costs home.
He returned home to only find out that his wife had been evicted from their company lodgings at Mopani Bay where he worked as a security guard.
“My wife was told to leave the premises as I was no longer able to undertake the guard duties which I had been recruited for,” said a distressed Mr Chimedza.
“My wife tried to cover my night duty security duties in my absence, but that was in vain as she was told to seek alternative accommodation.”
The wife got a makeshift shack, where they are now living as he tries to recover from the injuries.
Mr Chimedza is expected to go back to Zambia for a check up on May 19.
