Croco Motors invests US$2m in panel beating plant

LEADING local motor vehicle dealer, Croco Motors said it is spending US$2 million to construct a state-of-the-art panel beating plant in Harare, chief executive Mr Farai Matsika said. The company, which has dealership licences for Toyota, Mazda, Ford and Nissan vehicles has also invested US$1 million on the refurbishment of showrooms around the country.

In an interview with the The Herald Business yesterday, Mr Matsika said the company was on an investment drive to ensure infrastructure development for the country.

“The US$2 million has already been secured and invested towards the construction of a panel beating plant which is one of its kind in the country and this project will go a long way in boosting our revenues.

“Another amount has been set towards the refurbishment of infrastructure where vehicles would be on show for the market,” he said.
Mr Matsika said the project was part of the company’s drive to construct infrastructure that could be used by future generations through importing latest technology and ideas.

He said the company was about to complete the construction of the panel beating plant while the commissioning was scheduled for May this year.

“We are happy as a company that we have invested in latest technology for the plant which is going to be one of its kind and this goes in line with the infrastructural development cluster in the Zimbabwe Agenda for Sustainable Socio-Economic Transformation.

“Croco Motors, as a local company is committed to adhere to the policies of the Government because engagement between the private sector and the Government is the way to go towards economic revival,” said Mr Matsika.

He said the motor vehicle service industry has not been recognised as a sector contributing to the economic development of a nation but Croco Motors has taken a step further to help Government in coming up with structures that will benefit generations of the future.
Mr Matsika urged other motoring companies to contribute to national development projects.

“Infrastructural development of a nation should be a collective responsibility for everyone and I urge other companies in our trade to adopt the culture of developing infrastructure for the nation to move forward,” he said.
