OLIVER “Tuku” Mtukudzi mentee, David Hondoyedzomba, says life will never be the same without his role model.
HD, as the acoustic guitarist is fondly known, says Tuku taught him to be resolute in showbiz.
The gifted composer, who is set to release his fourth album titled MaRecovery, said he still has a lot to give in showbiz.
Tuku succumbed to diabetes in 2019 aged 66.
After his death, a number of his products have been trying hard to keep the Black Spirits founder’s legacy alive.
“I’m one of those guys who had the privilege to be mentored by Tuku when he was still alive.
“He used to tell me to be my own man. I will always respect him for all that he has done for us.
“In my case, I have learnt professionalism from him.
“Tuku gave me a shoulder when I was about to quit music.
“He narrated how he made his breakthrough after years in the game.
“I realised that music was not for the faint-hearted after learning the ropes from him.
“He is one of the people who have helped me to be where I am today,” he said.
To date, HD he has released a number of albums – Uncle Sam, Baba Munenge Rombe and HD The Album.
His forthcoming album carries eight tracks.
They are Bhachura, Hupenyu, Moto Watsva, Hauite, Tenga Mota, Dzinza Rapera, Chembere dzeMuno and the title track, MaRecovery.
