A BUDDING Domboshava Afro jazz crooner has saluted the late Genius “Ginimbi” Kadungure for putting the area on the world map.
The 31-year-old reckons he will keep the late socialite’s legacy alive. He said he was inspired by Ginimbui to venture into music before the Harare businessman’s death in 2020. Tauzeni said Ginimbi was a hero in their community
“Ginimbi was putting Domboshava on the map through his luxurious cars, the mansion he built in our rural areas and even the lifestyle he was living.
“Many people came here (Domboshava) to see the wonders he was making before, and after his death, and on its own, our area was being upgraded.
“I am going to replace him because I am marketing our place through music. I will shoot videos here and record songs here as a way of raising the flag of this place high. I met the late Ginimbi on a number of occasions since we used to stay in the same area.
“If I go on the drawing board I can see I will match his standards of putting this place on the map,” he said. The 31-year-old recently dropped a single titled ‘‘Bhuru,’’ to show masculinity and dominance of his music.
“I have recently dropped a new track, Bhuru, and I am humbled by the response I am getting.
“It has an accompanying video and also the video was shot here in Domboshava.
“Charity begins at home and I am making sure I win the hearts of people from Domboshava before expanding wings to other places.
“I am not new in the music circles but it was just taking time to get recognition.
“I believe in God’s time, I want to work hard and add value to our music industry in Zimbabwe. It is my dream to join the big league, spread my music and leave a mark on the music map,” he said.
He added: “I also get inspiration from real life situations and these are the situations that people go through which are never spoken about in public. So, I take a satirical approach to those issues which people are at times not eager to share.
“I am going to be known internationally and, if God blesses me financially, I will also develop my area. It’s a community that has given a lot to me and I will forever be indebted to that community.”
Besides music Tauzeni is also a real estate agent and property contractor. He also recently collaborated with Ti Gonzi on the song Sugar Mama and it’s already receiving a fair share of airplay on local radio stations.
Some of his previous songs include Ndokuchiva, Chiguy Chine Dumbu, 6 O’clock, Picture, Ndidzidzise, Suspect and I Am Sorry, featuring Princo Bindura,
Asked about challenges he is facing he said: “As an artist, for you to stay relevant and visible, you need promoters, sponsors, airplay and good management. This is my biggest challenge so far.”
