Cruise brings London to a standstill

brought the heart of the city to a standstill so he could film his new movie.

The 50-year-old actor is currently in the UK capital shooting “All You Need Is Kill” and had Trafalgar Square and surrounding streets shut down for over three hours to film certain scenes.

Residents of London and tourists were left angry as it meant they were unable to visit the sights and trapped in road closures in a two-and-a-half square mile area.

Louise Allain, of Westminster, said: “I wanted to get to Mass this morning but Trafalgar Square was closed. Thanks for nothing, Tom.”

Visitor Mary Lamont added to The Sun newspaper: “I can’t believe the whole of central London has been closed just because of a film”.

While filming the scenes, Tom made a spectacular entrance in an RAF Puma helicopter, which landed in the tourist hotspot under Nelson’s Column.

The square was also full of armoured vehicles for the dramatic movie shoot.
A Westminster City spokesman revealed Londoners would not benefit financially from the filming — although he added: “It raises the profile of the city and is good for tourism”.

Tom has spent the past few months in the UK filming the movie and last week his six-year-old daughter Suri — whose mother is his ex-wife Katie Holmes — flew over from New York to spend some quality time with him. — bang showbiz.
